Birds.

While being away for the weekend, these were two species of the many birds that were about.

Many Kookaburras were calling each other from the tree tops that they perched high up in.

















The smaller Miner bird was about in great number and wasn't slow to move in for a free feed when on offer.

The common seagull, found where there is sea water and fish & chips. It never seems to amaze me how their radar lets them know that there is food around.












The Rainbow Lorikeet is also a common bird in Australia with it's bright colours making it a favorite at a lot of tourist locations.

If they are in the trees within a street and you park your car under the tree, they quickly do their business all over it.

Birds.

The common Galah is found throughout most areas of Australia. To some they are considered a pest but as you watch them go about there day to day chores, they can be interesting to watch let alone colourful to photograph.









While one sits in the opening to it's nest in the hollow of the tree, the other is seen here chewing off the bark around the tree. It almost looks as if it has chewed the bark to represent a map of Australia.

A white fantail pigeon which was happily cooling itself near a sprinkler on a hot afternoon at a caravan park in Elliston on the west coast of South Australia.

As the other day, I arrived home from work in the morning to find Lorikeets chewing away at the tree blossoms. These colourful fellas were amongst the varieties in the trees today.











Breakfast out in the open sunshine, what more could they ask for?










More of these unknown bird species were happy to shine their bright yellow wing feathers in the sunshine while sitting and watching their surroundings.

With all of the trees in the street out in flower, it is now the time of the year that these very noisy Lorikeets come out to hop from branch to branch as they chase the flowers.











Having them stopping still long enough to capture them in a photo was a challenge. No sooner had I set the camera to continuous frame shooting, and I had taken 168 photos in no time at all.














I don't know the name of this bird, perhaps someone could help me out there. These are very pretty when sitting in the sunlight with the yellow on it's wings.

Animals & Birds

These fellas need a good lens to be able to get anywhere near their heads. This one was a willing photo candidate at the Adelaide Zoo.











I wonder if they have ever thought of using a pillow or if they are just as happy sleeping on the concrete, makes me wonder how comfortable they really are.









We caught this pelican swimming around on Boston Bay at Port Lincoln South Australia. As long as there was water between us and him, he was happy.
