Halls Gap.

Halls Gap is located in the Grampians within Victoria and this building can be found on the southern edge of the town. The Information Centre is well worth the visit when in the area to inform the visitor of what is available to be seen within the Grampians region.

Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village.

Flagstaff Hill depicts what an early Australian shipping port would have been like. It overlooks the infamous Shipwreck Coast of Victoria on the Great Ocean Road at Warrnambool.

Hogwash Bend Sunset.

Bright sunset at Hogwash Bend South Australia. This one was taken early evening during a weekend stopover at the river side location.

Diver Bridge.

With the new Diver Bridge opening to traffic today, Sally & I thought that we would brave the cold last night and drive to Port Adelaide and take some photos of the bridge. It was very cold in the Port, but hopefully the photos made the trip worth while.

Brisbane at Night.

City of Brisbane taken from Kangaroo Point just after a thunderstorm. If you look to the top right corner of the photo, lightening can be seen.

River Torrens.

Following on from yesterday's post, we parked the car near the Zoo and set off on foot to walk the banks of the River Torrens. From the Zoo we headed west along the northern banks of the Torrens until we arrived at the weir for a short break before returning on the southern side making our way back to the Zoo and vehicle.

This photo was taken from the southern side looking back into the city, not all that far down from the Zoo. At times the water was smooth as seen here making for a very pretty location.

Boats.

Captured this photo at Glenelg, a suburb of Adelaide South Australia. We had first headed for West Lakes to capture some water reflections before we finally ended up at Glenelg.

Hogwash Bend Sunset.

Hogwash Bend is an area on the River Murray between the river towns of Waikerie and Morgan in South Australia. The area is a very popular camping location with spectacular river views.

While we were camped there, this photo was taken late afternoon while the sun was setting giving that golden glow across the water and onto the trees.

Rainbow Valley

Rainbow Valley is located to the east of Stuarts Well in the centre of Australia up in the Northern Territory. Whilst the 22 kms of dirt between the main road and the valley can be very rough, the drive in is well worth it particularly if you are able to witness a sunset.

Many people as we did use Stuarts Well as a base camp if visiting the area. The area in the foreground of this photo sometimes fills with water after heavy rains and offers some very magnificent water reflections, it is just a pity that it is so far away from home.

Murray River South Australia.

The creeks and low lying flood areas that are filled with water from the Murray River are known as backwaters.

As there is very little water movement within the backwaters, it allows more reeds and water plants to grow as seen here.











The brown cover seen here is a ribbon type weed which grows where the water is still and allows the water below to become crystal clear.

These backwater areas can be very pretty to look at and offer a peaceful location to all of those who visit the area.

Late Afternoon Light.

With the fading afternoon light, the River Murray turns a golden colour as the sun is going down.

Hogwash Bend on the River Murray is a favorite spot of ours and as such, we have a lot of mixed photos of the area.












This one is also of Hogwash Bend although it was taken earlier in the afternoon before the golden colour started to have it's effect.

Burra Creek Gorge.

Some places appeal to people more than others and for water reflection photography, this location at Burra Creek Gorge has plenty to offer.












It is the sort of spot that has a bit of everything that you want from very still water, large trees and at the right time of the year, plenty of blue sky and green grass.

Horseshoe Bay.

This delightful bay is located at Port Elliot which is on the Fleurieu Peninsula between Goolwa and Victor Harbor South Australia.

The beach is very popular with holiday makers who take advantage of the many styles of accommodation within the area.












While the waters within the bay are protected for beach goers, the water further out, can be at times, a very deep and pretty blue to look at.

Geikie Gorge.

Geikie Gorge can be found in the top part of Western Australia in the Kimberly region. It is located 20 kilometres out west from the town of Fitzroy Crossing or 280 kilometres east of Derby.

The area is open to the public from 6.30am until 6.30pm each day unless the area has been flooded during the wet season that runs from December through to March each year.







During the wet season the water will rise by as much as 16.5 metres making this river one of the fastest flowing rivers in the world. The white colours of the walls indicate the water level during the wet season.

The water supports sawfish, stingrays, freshwater crocodiles and many other fish species. There are public toilets, a shelter shed, BBQ facilities and large picnic area for visitors to use while visiting.

Burra Creek Gorge.

This water hole location is at Burra Creek Gorge which is near the township of Burra in South Australia. Camping is permitted in the area along the gorge.











Because of the heavy timber cover in the immediate area, it is not alway easy to get good photos because of the low light. These photos were taken during the winter months with lots of green grass around. The light would be better during the summer, but the landscape isn't as appealing.

Whispering Wall.

As we were in the area and the sun was shining, we decided to visit the Barossa Reservoir which is located a short distance from Gawler South Australia towards Mannum. The reservoir was built between 1899 and 1903 to supply the township of Gawler with water.










The wall of the reservoir got it's name of Whispering Wall because of the excellent acoustics that has been created by the construction.

When you stand with one person at each end of the wall on the inside of the curve, you can whisper to each other. This can be heard by the other person as if you are standing along side of each other.

Ramco Boat Ramp.

The Ramco Boat Ramp is located a few kilometres north of Wakerie along the River Murray in South Australia.

This one shows the golden glow created late in the afternoon just before sunset.

A lady tries her luck at fishing while her dog has a swim and scares all of the fish away.

Whalers Way.

This is the third one in my Whalers Way series. As you drive around the area, you will find this area half way through. Not that they are large enough to be seen here, but there are seals out on this small island outcrop.









Blue ocean waters are everywhere to be seen as you drive through Whalers Way.











As the road takes you through the centre of Whalers Way, the ground changes from a brown dirt to a white sand covering.

Port Augusta S.A.

We were at Port Augusta over the weekend and woke Sunday morning to a still and windless morning.

This photo was taken from the old tank lookout which gives good views of the top of the Gulf where you can look at the bridges as well as the Power House.








The sunrise effect on this one gives the bridge supports a golden glow, but along with the early morning glow comes the shadows.










The small jetty on the west side had the best reflections with the sun shining over my left shoulder.
